Training Locations

Below you will find pins to the various locations we meet at. Sometimes these areas can be large so we wanted to provide more precise locations (click on the links and it will take you to the exact location and you can get directions to that spot.)

Arroyo Verde Park (Ventura)

A large park with lots of grass and trails in mid Ventura off Foothill Rd (at entrance is at the corner of Day Rd and Foothill Rd). Free Parking (except on weekends.)

Camino Real Park (Ventura)

A large grass park in the middle off Ventura off Dean Dr. We primarily run on the grass. Free Parking.

Foster Park (Ventura)

Roughly halfway between Ventura and Ojai off Highway 33. We meet in the dirt parking area where Casitas Vista Rd goes under the highway. This area is free to park. If the actual park is open (at the time I am adding this it is closed for repairs after the WInter Storms) you can park there for $5. This run is typically out and back (run slightly uphill towards Ojai and then come back.) There is a dirt horse trail next to the path that the kids run on unless we are trying to run at faster paces.

Juanamaria Park (Ventura)

A nice park on Kimball Rd between Telegraph and Foothill Rd. We typically run to Harmon Canyon for some trail running when we meet here. Free Street Parking.

Kimball Park (Ventura)

Kimball Park is a large sports field park in East Ventura and home to the Ventura Aquatic Center. There is a cement path around the park (can also run on dirt/grass just off the path) and lots of grass fields. We rarely use this park but is a nice option when we want something flatter to run fast on.

State Beach (Ventura)

The San BuenaVentura State Beach is located at Pierpont Blvd and San Pedro St. This is a State Beach and parking is $10, however there is free parking outside the park along San Pedro and Pierpont (where marked.) This run is along the Coast and relatively flat and primarily on hard surface.

Sulphur Mountain Rd (Ventura)

Sulphur Mountain is about 15 minutes from Ventura. It is off the 33 highway about 2 miles North of Foster Park.

The first half is uphill and the 2nd half is downhill proving a natural negative split run.

Sycamore Canyon (Malibu)

Sycamore Canyon is located on the Pacific Coast Highway between Oxnard and Malibu. It is roughly 30 minutes from Ventura (which is a bit of a journey) but offers amazing trails that we don't have in Ventura.

We meet at the first set of bathrooms inside the park by the main parking lot (see pin link above)

Please note parking is $10. There is free parking on PCH but please do not leave valuables in the car.

Parents are encouraged to come and walk/run/ride the trails. Sycamore Canyon is my favorite trail system in the area.
